Bracken is a commission won on the Stars Appeal Auction.

This year I would like you to paint our Old Dog Bracken,A collie/lurcher cross, she was our first dog and died aged 17 !

She was an absolute legend in every way

With Bracken I decided to use soft pastel pencils to have the effect I wanted to show.
As with all black and white dogs its important to add tones so that the colour does not appear flat.
As Brackens head is on one side, she appears to have a questioning look, so rather than use her lead as its in the photo I have placed it at her paws.
And to take this one step further, when the actual painting is placed behind the double mount, I have added and extra painting of the lead, which is then placed lightly onto the paintings itself ,and laid onto the outer edge of the mount giving this a 3 d effect.
