Dear Judith

I’m writing to you with some great news. As you know, the Caring 4 Kids campaign has had a wonderful year of support and promotion as Spire FM’s Charity of the Year, including a record-breaking On-Air Auction .

And now Spire FM have chosen the Stars Appeal Caring 4 Kids campaign as Charity of the Year for 2010. This is the first time Spire FM have ever awarded Charity of the Year status to the same charity two years running. The Caring 4 Kids campaign will have another year benefitting from the fantastic local exposure that Spire FM can give.

As in 2009, the main focus for fund-raising will be the on-air live auction, which will be held on Thursday 18 March 2010. Last year the auction raised over £12,000 for the Caring 4 Kids Campaign. This year we hope to do even better.

All donors get publicity for their donation both on the day of the auction itself and on the auction website in the two weeks leading up to the auction (which can include a weblink to your own business website). For the Superlots – sixteen extra special items we save for the last hour of frantic bidding – you can be sure of extra on-air mentions in the week before the auction as well as on the day. And this year, we’re also looking for instant phone-in-and-win items and for sponsored stunts and events on the day.

We will be working closely with the Salisbury Journal, as we did in 2009, to publicise the auction and ensure maximum exposure for our supporters.

I do hope you will be able to help us.

About the Stars Appeal and Caring 4 Kids

The Caring 4 Kids Campaign now looks certain to hit its original target of raising enough to fund additional facilities at the new Children’s Unit at Salisbury District Hospital, due to start building in January 2010 and open at the end of 2010. Now the aim is to raise funds to help even more of the local children who need to use Salisbury District Hospital each year. Two departments will benefit from the extra support. Accident & Emergency, which sees around 9,000 child patients each year, will get a dedicated children’s area. And the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Special Care Baby Unit) will have improved facilities including parents’ accommodation.

The Stars Appeal raises money to create the best possible experience for the 300,000 people who rely on Salisbury District Hospital. It funds extra care and equipment over and above that provided by the NHS. The Appeal benefits all wards and departments. It also raises money for major projects. In 2007, thanks to the generous support of the local community, the Appeal funded special treatment and diagnostic equipment for premature and critically-ill babies and an advanced keyhole cancer surgery suite. The latest project is the Caring 4 Kids Campaign.
