smoke gets in your eyes

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes 20 x 24 inches Acrylic
Smoke gets in your eyes" the title of a well know song. This painting is about a young promising Saxophone Player. Dextor Gordon. A time to relax and take a five minuet break. the smoke filled night club where young and old musicians play to an appreciative audience. This is in the days before television, when night clubs and bars were where friends met up also the place to enjoy some of the talented musicians who went on to become famous. The saxophone player looks dreamily into bright lights, whilst all around him others sit idly chatting or sharing their ambitions. The reference photograph used for this painting was taken by the legendary Herman Leonard photographer. Herman has kindly given me his permission to use this image.
